WHO AND WHAT IS THIS FRAMEWORK FOR?
Please use the menu on the left hand side of this page to view all the pages and resources for paths to personalisation
This guide has been produced to help all
those involved understand how things will need to be done differently to make
personalisation a reality for people with mental health needs. This is a whole system guide, so
hopefully it will give some information, guidance and signposts for people,
whoever and wherever they are. The guide provides information about what
personalisation means for mental health services and supports, offers examples
of what needs to be in place to make things work, and provides pointers to good
practice and sources of advice and information.
There should be something of interest or
useful links to be followed up, for example for people with mental health needs
and carers (particularly if they are in expert partner roles) - health and social care commissioners,
providers, practitioners, care co-ordinators and staff from all sectors -
universal services - community
groups - senior managers - board
and elected members - enthusiasts, advocates and leaders. It is also intended
to help people look across the system to recognise all the things that need to fit
well together in partnership for a personalised approach
A Brief Explanation
(further films and personal stories are embedded throughout these pages. Subtitled versions of all film material is avaialble on the paths to personalisation video group)
The framework has
been developed and tested with the help of an expert group, including people
who use or have used mental health services. It starts from the point of view and perspective of someone
with mental health needs and considers the range and nature of things that need to be in place. The first person statements, formed with
the help of the group, are designed to consider the
question ‘What helps to make this happen?' The group felt that this approach would
help focus attention on what needs to be in place to achieve the right outcomes
for people, and on people's real experiences of systems and services. These statements also provide a whole
system quality checklist for personalisation (See the Outcomes and Quality Framework page)
The ‘Signposts' at the bottom of each of the web pages within the main document provide links to
further reading, websites, examples and
further resources.
Paths to personalisation has been published as a series of web pages, as a pdf to download, it has been made available on www.scribd.com for download in e-reader and various mobile device formats and has a DVD produced by the Community TV Trust with content filmed in the North West provided by Bluesci, funded by the North West Joint Improvement Partnership for NMHDU as a further supporting resource (order here ), all of which are accessible on this website.
