Well-being and mental health: A public health agenda for the future 8 December 2010 London

Date: 8th Dec 2010

In the last two years emphasis in government programmes and projects has been given to public mental health and well-being. The provision of services to support improved mental health and well-being has been targeted at shifting the focus of public service agencies towards promoting and protecting better mental health not just amongst the unwell but across whole populations.

To help support the implementation of this emerging and important agenda, the NHS Confederation in partnership with the National Mental Health Development Unit and in collaboration with SOLACE - Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and ADPH - the Association of Directors of Public Health, conducted research into the opinions, views and experiences of local leaders on public mental health and well-being across England.

The purpose of the Well-being and Mental Health: Public Health agenda for the Future Leadership Summit is:

To inform and share the findings from a national research project on local leaders views on public mental health and well-being.

To hear from experts and leaders in the field of public mental health and well-being on current innovative work

To help develop and shape the future public mental health and well-being agenda to enable localities to take this work forward within the new arrangements for the NHS, Public Health and Local Government.
