Established Learning Networks in a rural environment

April 2007
2 parallel networks have been running in Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale; Care homes network and then a Domiciliary
network.
Aim of the networks
- To promote best evidence based practice, whilst recognising the existing skills.
- There are two distinct staff groups, but with common themes.
The networks meet quarterly and informal contacts have developed ,as have ‘critical friends' - Separate steering groups were established
- Managers have a ‘safe' forum to address issues.
- Visiting speakers have impact on many staff teams in one ‘hit'.
- Visitors and families know about the network.
- The network covers independent and statutory sectors.
- Third sector partners also attend
